ABOUT ME

I am Alper Demir (1978). I studied painting at the Art Academy in Izmir (Turkey) and Fine Arts at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In Izmir I was mostly doing two-dimensional works. After I moved to Amsterdam, I developed a more conceptual way of thinking and also started doing sculptures and installations. 

 

In my work I explore the relation of the human body with the space. This relation can be physical, philosophical, psychological, political or spiritual. I have always been interested in the way identity and surroundings interact.
